Heavy use
4K streaming, online gaming, large uploads and many connected devices.
Good for: busy households, gamers, creators
Fibre, cable or DSL?
- Fibre uses light through glass cables. It usually offers the fastest and most consistent speeds, including fast uploads.
- Cable uses the same coaxial lines as cable TV. It offers fast downloads and is widely available.
- DSL uses telephone lines. It can be a practical option where fibre and cable are not available.
Tips before you choose
- Count how many people and devices are online at the same time.
- Check whether anyone works from home or games online.
- Ask about contract length, equipment and installation.
- Ask the provider to confirm the speeds available at your exact address.
This guide is general information. Actual speeds and availability depend on the provider and your address.
